Our neighbors to the south (and east), South Burlington is a convenient suburban community minutes from Burlington. A great place to live, work, and play, South Burlington’s central location gives residents access to everything Vermont has to offer. The nearly 19,200 residents have easy access to Lake Champlain and the mountains via I-89, Route 2, and Route 7. South Burlington is also home to Vermont’s only international airport with daily flights to NYC, Washington D.C., Chicago, Canada, and more.

There are three distinct districts. At its heart, City Center is a new vision for South Burlington to create a true downtown. Currently under construction, the new downtown will include walkable and bikeable cross streets and a mix of new housing, retail, and employment. This section is home to Target, University Mall, Healthy Living, and Trader Joe’s.

Further east from Burlington, you experience a mix of business parks and suburban development. This section is home to newer developments including South Village and Hillside at O’Brien Farm.

Lastly, there is the section of South Burlington that runs along Route 7. This area includes a healthy mix of waterfront homes, suburban neighborhoods, condos, apartments, and mixed use office and retail. Shopping options are aplenty in South Burlington with multiple grocery stores, big box stores, and local small businesses.

Residents in South Burlington are much like other Vermonters in their love for activity and the outdoors. Runners, walkers and cyclists fill the city sidewalks and walking paths morning and night. South Burlington is chock full of parks, bike paths, and trail networks.

Veterans Memorial Park is a community hub with ball fields, a band shell and pavilion, picnic areas, and Cairns Arena which houses two NHL size skating rinks. Red Rocks Park is often considered the pride of the city’s park system. This 100-acre park includes 700 feet of waterfront, a swimming area, and two and a half miles of walking trails. In all the city maintains 24 miles of multi-use trails with plans to connect and expand.
