New North End

A great place to spread out a little while staying active in the city community.

The New North End is the predominantly suburban section of Burlington. Home to two city beaches, Burlington High School, and a handful of parks, the New North End is a great place to spread out a little while staying active in the city community.

North Avenue is the main spine of the neighborhood extending northwards from Battery Park to the Winooski River. Recently, the City added a dedicated bike lane to North Avenue, giving area residents two options to commute to Downtown. The second option is the Burlington Bike Path which runs the length of the neighborhood. The bike path connects both Leddy Park, Starr Farm Dog Park, and North Beach before continuing on to both Downtown Burlington and the Champlain Islands.

Parks are scattered throughout the suburban neighborhood and include Ethan Allen Park, North Beach, Leddy Park, Schifillti Park, and Starr Farm Park (humans and dogs welcome). Leddy Park features multiple athletic fields, an indoor skating rink, natural woodlands,  and beach access. Sandwiched between North Beach and Leddy Park, Rock Point offers public use of 130-acres of land owned and maintained by the Episcopal Church in Vermont. The property includes a trail system, rock climbing, community gardens, and a conference center.

Shopping in the New North End is centered around the Ethan Allen Shopping Center. The center includes a Hannaford grocery store, post office, Ace Hardware, and dog grooming among other stores.

There are a few options when it comes to dining which continue to expand as the community grows. La Boca Wood Fired Pizza, Simple Roots Brewing, Pho Nguyen, Bagel Cafe, Pho Tao, and Smitty’s Pub are some of our favorites!
